UWWO Wins Platinum Award at NCBF Regionals!
Every year the wind orchestra takes part in the NCBF (National Concert Band Festival) regionals. This is a wonderful competition in which we play 15 minutes of music we have been preparing throughout term 1 and get judged on a scale of bronze to platinum based on the quality of our playing by professional adjuducators.
This year we are proud to announce we won the platinum award, the highest avaiable, at the regionals in Telford! This is the first time we have received the award in 8 years.
Our programme for NCBF this year was Highdays and Holidays, and the Sun Will Rise Again, both by Phillip Sparke, and Ghost Train by Eric Whitacre. The adjuducators enjoyed this programme, and we received substantial praise for it.
As a result of our platinum award, we have been invited to the national round of NCBF which is due to be held 5th April 2020 in Manchester, which we are all greatly looking forward to.
Finally, we would like to massively thank our conductor, Simon Hogg, who has done a brilliant job in preparing these pieces with us over the term, and for conducting us so well on the day!
